报告内容提示:

Semi-conducting polymers used for opto-electronic applications contain sequences of delocalised p-electrons along the polymer backbone that impart the unusual and useful properties of these materials. Single molecule spectroscopy can provide details about the photochemistry that occurs in individual polymer chains that make up a bulk sample. For conjugated polymers the information available includes fluorescence spectra and lifetimes, transition dipole orientation, exciton transport properties and charge transfer behaviour. In this presentation single molecule studies of several conjugated polymers including main-chain and side-chain phenylene vinylene (MEHPPV)-based polymers and fluorenyl donor-acceptor block copolymers (PFM-F8BT-PFM) will be presented. The results of both confocal single molecule spectroscopy and defocussed wide-field imaging microscopy methods will be presented. Our progress with the printing of solar cells using conjugated polymers will also be outlined.
